The rumors of Carl Edwards’ move to Joe Gibbs Racing starting in 2012 have been swirling for a while now. It was announced this morning that Edwards will be staying at Roush Fenway Racing in the No. 99; he re-signed with Roush Fenway Racing for a multiyear deal, saying that Roush Fenway has given him “the resources I need to win.” The push by Ford to keep Edwards to stay at Roush Fenway helped as well.

Edwards said that he has the best chance of winning a Sprint Cup Series championship with Roush Fenway Racing, and judging by his current eleven-point lead over Jimmie Johnson in the point standings heading into Pocono, it may be best that he stays put.
Jack Roush is extremely happy that Carl will be staying at Roush Fenway. He issued a statement saying, “Carl Edwards has achieved a level of success on and off track that would put him at the top of the list for any race team. We saw great potential in Carl a decade ago, and it's been a thrill to watch him grow into one of the sport's premier drivers behind the wheel of the No. 99."
Now all Carl Edwards, Ford, and Roush Fenway Racing fans can breathe a sigh of relief that Cousin Carl isn’t going anywhere.
