Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Junior
Nation alike can finally breathe a giant sigh of relief since today the No. 88 of Dale Jr. broke a one hundred and forty-three race winless streak; which
is four years and two days for anyone who is good with remembering dates. Junior's last win was, coincidentally, at
Michigan International Speedway in June of 2008.
If you ask any member of
Junior Nation when Junior's winless streak would end, they would always say,
"this weekend." That's
certainly something that I, personally, admire about Junior fans, they never
lost faith in their driver and supported him no matter how he did - whether he
had a good day or bad day.
The last sixty laps of
the Quicken Loans 400 were when Junior showed what his car was capable of;
being able to cross the Start/Finish line a massive 5.393 seconds before
second-place finisher, Tony Stewart. This
win at Michigan was Earnhardt's nineteenth in his four hundred and fiftieth
start and also gave Hendrick Motorsports their two hundred and third Cup Series
victory.
Congratulations to Dale
Earnhardt, Jr., Steve Letarte, the entire No. 88 crew, and Hendrick Motorsports
on their victory at Michigan!
