Last Weekend Recap!
Okay, so last weekend was crazy! Two road course races!
Time to start off with the Nationwide Race, which took place at Road America in Wisconsin, also known as the longest track in NASCAR, a 4.048-mile, 14-turn course. As you may have seen, Carl did a back flip...you know what that means! His winless streak is over!!
It's time for the Cup Race, which took place at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Califonia! There is certainly a lot to talk about! Jimmie Johnson was finally able to finish a race! But besides that, it was his first win at a Road Course. Let's get down to the drama! Marcos Ambrose, who was dominating all race long, made a crucial mistake during the caution on lap 103. Ambrose was leading the pack, when his car stalled in Turn 2. He was completely stopped, and six people passed him. NASCAR decided to let him restart seventh. He wasn't able to regain the lead. He came home with a sixth place finish.
Another altercation on the track was between Martin Truex, Jr. and Jeff Gordon. Gordon, driver of the #24 DuPont Chevrolet, spun Truex, driver of the #56 NAPA Autoparts Toyota, on lap 63. Truex didn't hide his emotions towards Gordon. We'll just leave it as he was quite upset.
I have to talk about Joey Logano. Joey had a little run in with Montoya. Montoya got into Logano and spun him out.
JGR didn't have a very good weekend. Joey, who finished 33rd, was their highest placing car. Denny had his hood fly open and finished a couple laps down, but ended up in the 34th position. Kyle Busch was in a very early wreck and had continuous problems all day, resulting in a 39th place finish.
Point standings time! Harvick is still leading the points. Jimmie Johnson gained four spots, moving up to 2nd. Denny and Kyle both lost a spot, moving Denny to 4th and Kyle to 3rd. Jeff Gordon gained two spots, moving him to 5th, locking him into the top 5 in points.
I'll write next week about New Hampshire Motor Speedway! Enjoy the race!
