At the end of the 2011 season, many were shocked to hear that Sprint Cup Series two-time winner, David Reutimann, was released from his No. 00 ride at Michael Waltrip Racing.

It was announced today that Reutimann has joined Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) for a one-year contract during the 2012 Sprint Cup Series season as a teammate to current TBR driver, Dave Blaney.  Reutimann will not be running the full season, probably around twenty-six races, but not as a start-and-park driver.

The first five races with Reutimann in the car are guaranteed; so yes, you will be seeing David in the Daytona 500.  The sponsor, car number, and crew have not been announced yet, but Tommy Baldwin himself will be his crew chief for the first few races.

Speaking about Tommy Baldwin Racing, a three-year-old team, Reutimann said, “Tommy has built a really good organization from the ground up in a really short amount of time.”

In addition to the new partial Sprint Cup Series ride, Reutimann has also stated that he has been in contact with some Camping World Truck Series owners about racing a few races for them this season.
