Murphy Headed to UARA Stars Powered by J&D Chassis

J&D Chassis, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, is proud to announce that fifteen year old driver Camden Murphy of Itasca Illinois will drive in select UARA Southern Touring Asphalt Racing Series (STARS) events in 2012.

Murphy drove J&D Chassis equipment in route to a runner up finish in the 2011 United States Super Truck Series (USST) National Series Championship. Murphy was quite impressive last season as he finished second in each of his USST starts. After his breakout performance J&D Chassis team owner JR Wiest has made the decision to take his young protégé to the next level and the UARA STARS late model division.

UARA is a Southern Touring Asphalt Racing Series (STARS) based out of Hendersonville, North Carolina. The UARA was formed in 2001. The growth of the UARA continues in popularity year after year. The STARS run a Late Model Stock car weighting 3100 lbs. with V-8 engine that produce about 500hp. The frames and bodies relate to the Premier racing series that is so popular today. The cars run on ten-inch wide Goodyear racing tires. With the increase of popularity of auto racing in the upper ranks of NASCAR, UARA-STARS has developed an affordable touring series to help drivers compete at other tracks and to fine tune their driving skills to make the leap to the next level.

The season consists of sixteen events the majority being 150 laps run in the southeast region at tracks that range from 1/3 mile speedways like Newport Speedway to the 1 mile track of Rockingham Speedway. Since its inception over four hundred forty nine different late model stock drivers have competed with the UARA-STARS.

Murphy is scheduled to compete at the UARA STARS season opener at Hickory Motor Speedway on March 17th. Other UARA STARS events include April 7th Dillon, SC, April 14th Rockingham, NC, May 4th Kingsport, TN, May 12th TBA, June 1st Anderson, SC, June 16th Newport, TN, June 23rd Hickory, NC, July 14th Newport, TN, July 28th Caraway, NC, August 3rd Tri-County, NC, August 11th Concord, NC, September 14th Kingsport, TN, September 29th TBA, October 6th Anderson SC, November 3rd Rockingham, NC.
